A backpacking adventure sounds particularly exciting, especially now that travel restrictions have eased.
CNN reports that fully vaccinated tourists can enjoy outdoor adventures in Africa or explore historical sites in the Middle East. You can also opt to go to Asian countries that backpackers love to visit, such as Cambodia and Thailand. If you want to explore some local sites, we have previously recommended great spots here at Beach Street USA. For instance, backpackers can surf and sail in Hawaii or even bask in the rich nightlife of Miami.
But no matter where you’ll go, you can have fun and even make new friends by bringing portable games. Here are five games that you can easily bring out whenever you want a good time:
Cards Against Humanity
If you want to have a good laugh with your fellow backpackers, then this is the game for you. Cards Against Humanity is a fill-in-the-blanks party game that challenges each player to finish sentences using the cards in their own hands. To win, you’ll have to provide the funniest responses to the main cards. Since the goal is to be as ridiculous as possible, this game is a great way to break the ice with a group that you’re still getting to know.
Monopoly Deal
Monopoly is a fun game, but the board and the accessories can be too bulky to bring on a trip. Luckily, there’s a card-only version where you need to play and pick up cards to purchase properties. BoardGamesTips.com article on Monopoly Deal explains that each player needs to have at most seven cards in their hands to be able to deal. Once someone is able to purchase three full sets of properties, they will be declared the winner of the game.
Poker
Poker is a famous pastime all over the world, so you can easily meet new people by inviting fellow backpackers to play this game. But if you want to make a lasting impression, you’ll have to learn a few card tips and tricks. Poker.org’s guide to poker rules is a good starting point, as it discusses the basics of the three most popular poker variations: Texas Hold’em, Five Card Draw Poker, and Omaha Poker. The guide also explains the most important poker terms, which are crucial for a fun round of betting.
Solitaire
If you want some me time or simply a more intimate game, then this is a great time to learn solitaire. You’ll only need a standard deck of cards for this game, plus you can learn it in as fast as five minutes! Bar Games 101’s resource on the types of solitaire shows you five different ways how you can play solitaire. You can go for the classic gameplay where you need to sort cards into four piles, or opt to learn the more creative bowling version.
The Grizzled
The Grizzled seems like another simple card game, but it has a rich storyline that will keep everyone on the edge of their seats. This game is set during the First World War, and all the players must cooperate so that you can win as a team. While the players cannot speak to each other during the game, you’ll surely have a great topic to discuss with the other players after.
These five games are all fun and easy to pack. Out of the five games, which one are you most excited to play?
