If you live within driving distance of Virginia Beach or are lucky enough to reside in Virginia Beach, in the weeks leading up till Christmas, it’s a wonderful idea to see the Christmas lights on Virginia Beach Boardwalk. To discover a guide to attending this year’s light display, simply continue reading. Especially if you have children who are obsessed with the festive season and would love to attend this year.
Purchase your tickets early:
It’s a great idea to purchase your tickets early as tickets need to be purchased in advance and there is only a limited amount of tickets which are available per night.
It’s a safe, socially distanced event:
You won’t have to worry about having to walk on a crowded boardwalk in order to see the Christmas lights as instead you’ll get to drive down the boardwalk in the safety and comfort of your private vehicle.
There are 3 different themes on display:
Not only will you see Christmas themed light displays but as the event is located right by the sea, you’ll also see beautiful nautical inspired light displays and adventure themed light displays. For example, you’ll see a sunken pirate ship light display. If you visit primarily for the Christmas themed displays you’ll see a giant Christmas wreath as well as Christmas lights that feature Santa Claus himself.
The illuminations are turned on at 5.30 pm each night:
The lights are officially turned on at 5.30 pm each night, so if you have young children you won’t have to wait until it gets really dark in order to visit the illuminations. Although, if you visit closer to 7pm the lights will look even more impressive due to the contrast between the bright lights and the dark night sky.
The lights are turned off between 10 pm and 11 pm each night:
Depending on which night you visit the light displays may remain on until either 10 pm at night or 11 pm at night. The lights are left on till 11 pm on Friday and Saturday nights and are turned off at 10 pm every other night. So if you are planning to see the lights as a group of adults, you may want to visit after 8.30 pm instead. After enjoying dinner at a local restaurant or eatery nearby. Especially if you want to avoid the initial rush of families who flock to the event each night.
Your final night to view the event is the 2nd of January:
If you forget to attend the light event before Christmas, don’t worry it may not be too late as you can attend the event up until the 2nd of January. Which should give you ample time to get a ticket before the event has closed.
So if you’re ready to get into the festival spirit it’s well worth getting a ticket to attend the Bayport Credit Union Holiday Lights Merry Mile. Especially if you have a young family. As you’ll get to make memories that will last a lifetime!
