Memorial Day weekend presents the perfect opportunity to remember the men and women who fought and are still fighting today to protect and preserve our country and the ideals that built it! Remember the Music-Remember the Heroes is a star-spangled, red, white and blue salute to our military heroes through the music of yesterday and today.

To celebrate our military, Remember the Music-Remember the Heroes will feature special performances at various stages along the oceanfront. Also back by popular demand is the “Heroes’ Walk” along the boardwalk. The Heroes’ Walk consists of large four by eight foot banners placed along the boardwalk that contain essays written by Virginia Beach high school students. The essays recall various military conflicts involving the United States down through the decades: World War I, the Spanish-American War, Pearl Harbor, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and others. Together, the banners help tell an important story about the sacrifices made by our military men and women to safeguard our precious freedom.
